Lasting Scent Candles

I've made it no secret that I absolutely LOVE Lasting Scent Candles' products!  I'll say it again, I LOVE Lasting Scent Candles! LOL The scents from here are always strong and long lasting for me.  And I can't forget to mention the great prices she has!  I recognize that everyone's noses are different, so this is just my noses point of view. : )  I have never gotten a scent from Lasting Scent Candles that didn't smell exactly as it was described!  I've recently gotten in several of her newer scents so I'd like to cover some of my favs from this last order as well as my "staple" scents that I can't leave her website without!

I'd also like to point out how great of a person Pam is!  I've never had any issues with my orders but she's always so great to chat with whether through email or on her business' Facebook fan page.  Be sure to head over to their Facebook page to make sure you don't miss out on any sales!

Lasting Scent Candles does have other products available besides the tarts, however, I personally have never tried them.  I can not fathom (given how great the tarts are) that they would be anything less than fantastic!
Now, I want to start first with my absolute favorite "staple" scents that I can not leave the website without!  I am a total bakery lover through and through however I will make mention of a few scents that are non-bakery that I really do love from here!  Now, on to the scents!

Pink Cloud ~ I didn't see a description on the site for this one but I assumed it was a Pink Sugar and Marshmallow blend just as alot of other vendors carry.  If you've never smelled Pink Sugar before, and you love bakery/sweet type scents, then you need to run, not walk to your nearest vendor and give it a try!  I will make mention that not all Pink Sugar dupes are created equal, but for the most part they are fairly consistent in smell.  I have found the rare "odd" smelling one. LOL  Pink Sugar is a sweet mix of cotton candy, hint of fruit (so they say though I never pick up on any fruit scent) and a very slight musk undertone.  Some people can smell the musk and others swear it just smells like the best cotton candy scent ever.  I personally do pick up on a hint of musk.  But this is such a sweet, yummy fragrance I still put it in the bakery/sweet category of scents! : )  Marshmallow is another scent definitely not created equal! I've had plenty from vendors that for some reason, smelled like soap to me? LOL  However this is definitely NOT one of those Marshmallow scents! This is a very strong, sweet and gooey marshmallow and coupled with the Pink Sugar.... it's such a yummy combination it almost gives you a tooth ache, with just a touch of "pretty' mixed in from the musk!  I don't care what I do, I have to have this scent in my home at all times!  She does have a few other Pink Sugar blends that I highly recommend as well, Pink Sugared Vanilla and Pink Marshmallow Shortbread are also staples in this house! : )

Now, with that said... I'd like to review a few of the newest scents I received that I feel are must try's for bakery/fruit/coffee lovers!

Blueberry French Toast ~ One phrase to describe this one ~ O-M-G! I don't know about everyone else, but the ingredients I use to make French Toast consist of - egg, bread, milk, nutmeg, cinnamon and vanilla extract.  Well I can say this is the first French Toast scent I've ever smelled that had my recipes homemade style!  I picked up the hint of cinnamon and nutmeg, along with a sweet hint of vanilla!   The blueberry in this scent is so authentic of a heavy blueberry syrup you might find sitting on a table at IHOP(International House of Pancakes for those who aren't familiar with that term )!  I ordered a few of this scent since this vendor has never let me down before and I'm SO happy I did!

Butterscotch Brulee ~ Mmmmmm I've been on a real butterscotch kick lately for some reason (even though I refuse to eat it other than in those yummy round little disk candies!) and this surely didn't disappoint me!  The description on the site says ..... "A Super sweet Creamy Butterscotch Brûlée,with Warm Caramel Sauce and Dark Vanilla syrup."  I don't know if I could definitely tell you I smell the caramel or the dark vanilla, but it surely is one super sweet butterscotch concoction that is to die for!  Very sad that I only ordered 1 of this scent because I've been drooling over it! LOL

Peanut Butter Cupcake ~ I've never honestly had (or heard of LOL) a peanut butter cupcake but being the cupcake nut that I am combined with the fact that if I didn't look like a crazy person, I would probably smother everything I eat in peanut butter I HAD to get this one!  Once again no disappointment here!  Description on the website is ~ "A mouth watering aroma of Creamy Peanut Butter and Rich Buttery Cupcake Batter frosted with Butter Cream Frosting." I detect every single note of the description in this one and I have to say this one not only gets it's A+ for scent strength but also for originality!  I mean if you can just imagine a freshly baked cupcake with little pockets of gooey, creamy peanut butter inside, topped off with rich, decadent buttercream icing... this is what you will get with this scent!  I did order a few of these on a whim and so happy I did!

Watermelon Herb ~  I didn't order this one, it was actually a freebie in my last order.  When I first saw it I was a little hesitant to smell because I'm not a huge fruit fan and the thought of watermelon mixed with herbs just sounded odd to me, but I'm so glad I got it! Here's the description from the site ~ "This is a Watermelon for Grown Ups! Icy cold Rosemary, Petitgrain and Fresh Watermelon, moves into a fruity-floral bouquet of Cyclamen, Juicy Pineapple, Sweet  Plum, Jasmine and Rose, with a touch of Muguet, Musk and Antique Woods."  I really liked this scent in my bathroom, it's a very fresh watermelon scent with just enough herbs to prevent it from becoming one of those typical overly sickening sweet watermelon scents!

Maple Nut Zucchini Bread ~ I know, surprised that I got a Zucchini Bread scent right? LOL Well, despite the fact that I have loved every Zucchini Bread scent that I've ever put my nose to, I still want to talk about this one because this scent has brought together my two favorite fragrances ~ Sticky, sweet maple syrup and Zucchini Bread!  There's not much else I can say on this one other than YUM!  But I had to give this one it's own "shout out"! This has been added to my "staple" list! LOL

Now, I could probably write a book on Lasting Scent Candles' fragrances because I've tried so many and have never been disappointed (a rare thing considering it's almost a given that every vendor will have something I might not like) so I'll just name off a few that you can check out descriptions on the website for.  Really I don't feel I need to describe any of their scents since they've all been so dead on for me, however here are some must haves ~

Banana Nut French Toast
Bavarian Creme
Bear Claws
Blueberry Bread
Blueberry Zucchini Bread
Brown Sugar Nut Cake
Cake Batter Ice Cream
Caramel Praline Pound Cake
Cinnamon Roll With Buttercream Frosting
Lemon Shortbread Cookie
Maple Cinnamon Bread Pudding
Orange Cream Cake
Baking Pumpkin Pie (This scent lasted 3 days non-stop for me!)
Cherries in the Snow
Pumpkin Marshmallow Grahams
Pumpkin Pound Cake
Blueberry Coffee
Snicker's Coffee Blend

Strawberry Rhubarb Pie (This is a scent that I'm VERY picky about because I have found some smell like total Rhubarb and no Strawberry but this one is definitely DEAD ON to the real pie AND after 3 full days of being on, I finally had to dump it out to put something else in.  Not sure if this scent really does ever die! LOL)

To end this review I would like to reinterate that I LOVE Lasting Scent Candles! LOL If you're looking for true to life scents, long lasting and strong scented tarts... this is definitely a vendor for you!

First Review - Distinctly Pink and eSCENTuals by jules

Ok, up first is my review (ok it might just be a little biased since I am the previous owner of Distinctly Pink but because of that I really wanted to make this my first review) of Distinctly Pink and eSCENTuals by jules.  There's SO many scents and products I just absolutely love and I personally feel you won't find anywhere else!

Since Distinctly Pink has just been taken over by Jules from eSCENTuals by jules, it is still closed but will reopen very soon (I believe within the next week!) She will be offering combined shipping when ordering from both websites so you'll be able to save money on shipping!  The Soy Candles from Distinctly Pink will be moving to the eSCENTuals by jules website.  This will enable her to offer a competitive shipping price on a flat rate scale for those who have come to know and love Distinctly Pink for their Aroma Melts (which will now be the main product for this website).  I will have to do another review once both websites are open as there will be many new fragrances coming out that I think everyone should know about! LOL

First I want to start with bakery fragrances.  Probably one my all time favorite scent from Distinctly Pink would be Caramelized Vanilla Zucchini Bread.  This is a custom blend only found at Distinctly Pink and it smells absolutely amazing!  Freshly grated Zucchini freshly baked into bread then smothered with a carmalized vanilla.  If you're a die hard bakery fan like myself, this is a must try scent! A few other favorite bakery scents of mine in Aroma Melts are ~

Apple Dumpling ~ This is a fragrance I typically wouldn't like since every one I had ever smelled before this one was way too over powering on the spices.  I was also afraid this one might smell more like an apple pie scent which again, to me, always has way too much spice in it.  However, this scent is SO not any of the above!  It literally smells just like a fresh apple dumpling with a flaky crust and gooey apple filling.  SO yummy!  Try blending it with a little vanilla (if ordering from Distinctly Pink, try they're Creamy Vanilla!) and you'll have yourself the real Apple Dumplings from the local fair ala mode!

Caramel Walnut ~ I'm not a huge nutty fragrance fan, however I am a huge caramel nut!  This fragrance has a great balance between the two.  It's very heavy on the caramel but you can get whiffs of the slight nutty walnut.  If you like caramel, you just have to try this one!

Cookie Dough ~ Contrary to what most would think, this is NOT a chocolate chip cookie dough type.  This is sweet and yummy sugar cookie dough.  It's hard to describe because it really does smell like the cookie dough however you can still smell the sweet sugary crystals in it as well.  Also a very strong scent! Again, SO yummy!!!! (I also LOVE this scent in lotions!)

Frosted Zucchini Cookies ~ Another Zucchini blend, this one is SO good!  It's a great balance between the sweet and yummy zucchini bread and freshly baked and dripping in frosting sweet sugar cookies!  If you like sweet bakery scents, this is definitely a must have!

Warm Apple Fritter ~ Alot of people are really into Bear Claws scent and I love that scent as well, but this scent I think doesn't get near enough attention!  It smells just like a freshly baked apple fritter donut! The apple is definitely not over powering!  You can smell the yeasty dough, and hints of apple....just a drool worthy scent!  If you like Bear Claws you really should give this scent a fair shot!

Zucchini Pear Cake ~ You can't tell I LOVE Zucchini Bread blends can you? LOL  This one is blended with a true to life fresh pear scent and is just to die for!  The fruity pear tones down the highly sweetened zucchini bread and really just comes together so well!  I'm really not a huge fruity scent fan and I'm super picky about what fruity bakery scents I like and this is definitely one of them!

Now to be fair (since I am such a huge bakery fan and I don't want to leave out those who like other styles of scent!) I'll tell you some must haves from Distinctly Pink that are not in the bakery category! LOL

Indiana Sandalwood is a great one for those "earthy" lovers, as is Sandalwood Vanilla.  Even though I'm NOT into those types of scents at all, I really do like these two scents!  The Indian Sandalwood honestly smells like a seriously sexy man!  The vanilla in the Sandalwood Vanilla really tones that over bearing sandalwood scent down and it's actually fairly soft and pretty (though still really strong in everything from Aroma Melts to Lotions and even Cold Processed Soap!)

If you are looking for some masculine type scents, definitely try Cool Steel (which is a dupe to the popular men's cologne Stonehenge), Calm Waters which is a dupe to the men's cologne Cool Water and Oakmoss is another really great smelling masculine scent.  All are spot on for their dupe's!

For florals (again SO not a floral fan!) I can honestly say the floral scents at both Distinctly Pink and eSCENTuals by jules are dead on to the flower they represent!  My absolute favs are Fresh Cut Tulips, even though I don't normally like this scent in candles/bath products, I do LOVE to melt this one in an Aroma Melt every now and again because I do actually love the scent of real Tulips and this one is dead on!  Actually, for those of you who remember and loved Yankee Candle's Absolute Tulip ~ THIS is the scent for you!  Smells exactly like theirs!  Another great floral scent found at eSCENTuals by jules is Fresh Cut Roses.  Some rose scents come off VERY perfumey to me however this is not one of those type of scents!  It is a very true to life rose scent that is VERY strong!  Definitely not a scent for those who can't handle strong scents! Lilac and Jasmine are a few other scents that come to mind that are very true to their name and super strong!  I don't think you'll find yourself going wrong from either company with floral scents!

Now for some clean/spa smelling scents!  These are scents I do enjoy from time to time, especially in my bathrooms.  Ocean Breeze is a great clean scent that is actually a dupe to Bath and Body Works' Juniper Breeze.  This scent is also offered by both companies and is super strong and long lasting!  A few other great clean scents are Unwinding Aromas (dupe to Downy's Water Lily and Jasmine) and for a great spa scent, try Serenity!  This one says it has lots of floral notes in it but honestly, to my nose, it's just a really fresh and relaxing scent... perfect for bathrooms and especially bedrooms!

Now that we've established some of my favorite scents, let's talk about the products! I'm going to start with Distinctly Pink first ~

Distinctly Pink (now under new ownership) is offering the same great strong/long lasting and true to life scents in Aroma Melts, Silky lotion that is just to die for!  It's rare to find a lotion you don't have to apply over and over and over and this one is it! It sinks in quickly, lasts a super long time and doesn't leave that greasy after feel!  In fact it actually leaves a soft, powdery almost silky feel! Another great product from Distinctly Pink is the Misting Perfumes.  These perfumes are just like the high dollar department store perfumes...they last a long time and it surely doesn't take much at all!  The bottle they come in are perfect for fitting in your pocket or in your purse for on the go! I like to keep mine in my purse for times I forget to put perfume on before leaving the house but want to smell really good.  My fav scent in this has got to be Pink Cookie Dough! I know it sounds weird but that scent is actually just beautiful in a perfume and I get compliments on it all the time!

Some more products you'll find at Distinctly Pink are Air Fresheners that are great for your car, or for kids to put into their lockers even inside stinky sneakers! (I have 3 boys so believe me when I say they work! LOL). I also like to keep them near my kitty's litter box, the garbage and really love having it in my pantry and closets so when I open the doors I get a big burst of scent!  Some scents last longer in these than others but you'll definitely get your money worth from them!  I've had them last anywhere from 2 weeks to 2 months!  Just depends on the scent.  My fav in these is of course my beloved Sugar Me Pink (which is a dupe to Aquolina's Pink Sugar).

And last but not least from Distinctly Pink is the Cold Processed Soap!  This soap has been around longer than any of us could ever imagine yet there's still many who don't know anything about it!  Well, that's why I'm here! LOL  Cold Processed soap is made like any soap, with lye (sodium hydroxide for solid soap and potassium hydroxide for liquid soap).  You just simply can not make soap without it!  The difference you'll find between handmade soap from Distinctly Pink and a regular bar of solid soap from your major chain stores is the ingredients.  Distinctly Pink's Cold Processed Soap is made with all natural veggie oils and butters that work together to not only clean you but to leave you feeling highly moisturized! However be aware when shopping for Cold Processed soaps as they're not all created equally.  Just as with candles and lotions, each creator has their own recipe/formula that will give different results. Some key ingredients to look for when shopping for this soap would be shea butter, cocoa butter, mango butter (the list goes on and on as there's several butters out there however these are the more common ones as they're the most cost effective while still doing their job), some great oils to look for are sweet almond (known for aiding in the relief of itching from skin conditions such as psoriasis and eczema), apricot kernel, olive, jojoba and emu are some of the more common ones for moisturizing though again there are many more. Cold Processed soap is one product well worth investing in!

Now, eSCENTuals by Jules does have a few of the same products to offer but one of her best selling (and in my opinion one of the best around) products are her Pillars.  It's tough these days to find a free standing candle that doesn't require much work because it burns so perfectly all the way down to the end but also will scent your home just as any high quality jar candle would!  Well, Jules has nailed these so perfectly! I used to buy pillars for decoration only but now I buy them and can actually enjoy the ambiance from them PLUS get to scent my home!

eSCENTuals by jules also carries a line of Wood Roses which are SO beautiful!  You can use them soley for display OR you can add a little scent to them to create a beautiful air freshener!  I think these are rather new to people so let me elaborate a little bit on them.  These roses are made from thin birch wood (don't quote me but I'm pretty sure it's birch wood) and they are hand placed around a styrofoam piece on a stem to look so real I dare you to tell the difference before touching them!  They looks so beautiful just on display and come in so many colors you can match any decor with them!  Then, when you add a littler refresher spray to them you get one heck of a strong air freshener!  The great thing about these when using them as an air freshener is YOU get to control how much scent you get from them.  If you just put 1 or 2 sprays on a bouquet of say 12, you'll have a nice light airy scent.  But add on about 4 or 5 sprays and you could probably fill up about 1000 sq ft with scent! LOL It's amazing!  The fragrance lasts about a week and then you'll need to re-spray them again for more scent.  Not sure if Jules will carry these on both websites as they were available on Distinctly Pink as well but I know for sure they will be available at eSCENTuals by jules!

Check out eSCENTuals by jules and Distinctly Pink soon to pick out your favorites so you're ready for the re-opening!  Also, check back here for info on upcoming sales, new products and of course, new fragrances!

The Beginning

First post to kick off this new blog!  Let me explain a little bit about myself for those who don't already know me ~ I am the previous owner of a home based company called Distinctly Pink (which before that was named Bearhug Creations).  I owned and operated that business for almost 11 years and absolutely enjoyed every minute of it!  I recently handed this business off to a super great friend of mine named Jules.  Jules has been in this business a little bit longer than I have and also owns and operates her business eSCENTuals by jules .  After many years of back problems, surgeries that failed and too many other procedures to mention in one post, I finally decided to hang up my candle/bath and body making apron.  It was a hard decision to make, but one that I don't regret for a moment! Now I have all the time I ever dreamed of to smell and enjoy new fragrances and products! And what's best, I didn't have to work to make them before I enjoy them! LOL

I've met SO many great people along the way in my years of business.  Some of them customers and some of them, fellow candle makers.  Before I started making my own I had NO idea how many home based candle and bath and body making companies there really were out there!  And what's best about having so many to pick from is that they all offer something different!  Different products, different fragrances, exclusive in house blends of scents you won't be able to get anywhere else!  These home based business' put their heart and soul into every product that goes out there door.  And if their superior quality wasn't enough.... if something happens to ever be wrong, they're almost always quick to fix it!  You don't have to "contact customer service", you're going to talk to the owner/creator directly!  You won't find that at Yankee candles or Bath and Body Works.  I can assure you of that!

So stay tuned for lots reviews! And do me a favor and spread the word to everyone you know who loves scented goodies and have them join us over here!
